Departure Lounge / All That I Am / Extention

Departure Lounge in Luton is extending its current expo All That I Am, until 6th Oct.   This is something everyone should check out, like in my previous post, this is something that we all really should support...

The show presents the work of Julie Cook, Jane Hilton and Nancy Newberry, three of the most innovative emerging artists currently working in photographic portraiture.

London based photographer Jane Hilton’s series Dead Eagle Trail provides a highly individual visual testament to the fast disappearing cowboy culture of the American west. Hackney resident Julie Cook presents Beauties of Today a strikingly warm and engaged portrait of London’s burlesque performers and the environments in which they work.

We are also excited that  Nancy Newberry - whose work has been shown for the first time in the UK as part of All That I Am - will also be featured in the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at London's National Portrait Gallery in November. Her staged and orchestrated portraits present Texan teenagers marking rites of passage with ‘MUM’s (short for Chrysanthemums), an intricate sculptural rosette worn for college graduation or the homecoming parade.
Curator Matthew Shaul will give the final talk of the series at the Gallery on Saturday October 6th at 2pm..

The Exhibition is open to the public 2-6pm Thursday & Friday, 1-6pm Saturday and by appointment. Admission is free. (NB due to essential electrical work the gallery will not be open Thursday 20th and Friday 21st)
